The country's first national security policy will be presented at a meeting of the National Security Council (Roz Dunya News)

Prime Minister Imran Khan has convened a meeting of the National Security Council on Monday.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry said in a statement issued on Twitter that the Prime Minister has convened a meeting of the National Security Council tomorrow.

"The first national security policy in the country's history will be presented for approval at the meeting."

It may be recalled that on December 6, the government announced the drafting of the first national security policy in the history of the country.

Earlier this month, a meeting of the Parliamentary National Security Committee was convened in which Dr. Moeed Yousuf, Advisor to the Prime Minister on National Security, presented a draft National Security Policy.

The reference was briefed.

The opposition boycotted the meeting of the National Security Committee of the Parliament chaired by Speaker Asad Qaiser.

Briefing the meeting, Moeed Yousuf had said that for the first time, a draft National Security Policy has been prepared by the National Security Division. The draft includes national security policy guidelines.

"Security policy includes security of the country's economy, food security, military security, water security, economic security, foreign policy, population growth and terrorism."

The policy also covers the situation in Kashmir and Afghanistan and relations with other countries in the region. In the National Security Policy, the relevant Ministries will implement the policy. Moeed Yousaf had said that the policy would be tabled in Parliament after it was approved by the federal cabinet.
