KSR Ram Chandran, Minister of State for Revenue and Disaster Management, said three people were killed in rain-related lightning strikes in Tamil Nadu on Thursday after torrential rains. Chennai, Kanchipuram, Trevor, and Changli Pattu are the districts where the red alert has been issued.
State Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Ramachandran said more than 20 cm of rain was recorded in many parts of the state during the last 24 hours, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall. He said that due to this rain, the situation is like a flood in Chennai Rains. Traffic was jammed due to the accumulation of water in many areas of the city, due to which daily life was severely affected.
