Nursultan Nazarbayev (Daily Pakistan Online) In the Islamic country of Kazakhstan, people took to the streets to demand the restoration of the old prices of petroleum products.
According to foreign media, thousands of people protested in different cities against the increase in prices of petroleum products and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Kazakhstan. Prior permission is required for any protest in Kazakhstan, but during the protests against petroleum products, the people ignored the ban and took the law into their own hands and raised their voices in support of the demands.
The main city was surrounded by Almaty to overcome the protesters from Wilis. Internet service was also shut down during the protests. Protesters have demanded that prices of petroleum products and gas be restored to last year's levels.
After three days of protests, Kazakhstan's president announced a reduction in gas prices.
